The Price of Sweet Fortune - Part 4: The Final Sacrifice

With trembling hands, Lily gathered the ingredients for The Undoing Feast. As she prepared the cake, she couldn’t shake the feeling that this would be her last chance to set things right. The recipe called for a strange final ingredient: a personal sacrifice. Unsure of what this meant, she took off her favorite necklace, a gift from her late mother, and placed it on the tray beside the cake.

Once the cake was baked, it looked different from all the others—darker, almost foreboding. Still, Lily carried it to the town square, where she served it to her remaining customers, hoping the curse would finally be lifted.

But as the last piece was eaten, Lily felt an overwhelming sense of dread. The sky darkened, and a cold wind swept through the streets. Slowly, the townspeople began to collapse, one by one, as if drained of life. Lily stood frozen in horror, realizing that The Undoing Feast hadn’t reversed the curse—it had sealed it. The book demanded a final, ultimate price: the lives of everyone in town.

As the last of her neighbors fell, Lily turned back to her bakery, now eerily silent. She was the only one left. The price of her success had been far greater than she ever imagined. Alone and broken, she tossed the cursed book into the flames of her oven, watching as it burned. But it was too late.

The town, once vibrant and alive, was now a ghostly shell, and Lily was its only inhabitant—forever cursed to live with the knowledge that her ambition had destroyed everything she loved.
