Rek was born and raised near 7th Street. He was the only child of his father and a curious boy. When he was in school, he didn't have many friends because of his unique behavior. He was an ambitious guy, and his dad owned a business.
Although he had never been in a relationship, he wanted to overcome his introvertedness, so he started talking to random strangers, exchanging simple hellos. Soon, he began visiting a local café down the street, where he noticed a beautiful girl making coffee as a barista. However, he didn't have the courage to talk to her, so he continued to get his coffee from her without saying much.
As weeks passed, he became comfortable enough to talk to her. One day, he said, "Hey! It’s been a long time. I’m Rek." He extended his hand for a handshake. She replied, "Hi, I’m Rey." This is how their conversation began. Rek started getting coffee from Rey daily, and soon they became good friends. After her barista shift, they would talk for hours, enjoying each other’s company.
One day, Rek asked, “Have you ever been in a relationship?” Rey replied, “That’s a weird question.” Rek felt anxious seeing her reaction, but she continued, “It’s fine. I’ve never been in a relationship; I think I never found someone that interesting. But you’re cool, Rek.” Hearing his name made him happy, and they started hanging out in the park and at festivals. Rek loved traveling and had visited nearly 20 countries. He asked Rey if she liked to travel, and she replied, “I do! I’m planning a solo trip next month.”
Rek was surprised. “Solo?” he asked. Rey smiled and said, “But I can make it a duo trip!” Rek didn’t understand at first, and then she said, “Dumbo, you can come with me!” He was excited and thought, “Why not?” This was the first step in getting closer to Rey. He had no plans to get into a relationship, but he didn’t know why Rey had a special place in his heart. He cherished it and felt happy, although he didn’t show his excitement to anyone.
Over the next few days, they planned where to go and finally decided on Spain. They started discussing what to do there, and Rek suggested, “Let’s reach there first and then decide what to do. It would be a unique experience, right?” Rey agreed. As the departure date approached, Rek's excitement grew.
One day, while enjoying coffee, Rey said, “Rek, you are my best friend. I’ve never had a nice friend like you.” Rek felt happy but didn’t show it; he just smiled and took another sip of his coffee. Finally, the departure date arrived, but the night before the trip, something happened that would change everything.
