The Two Musketeers

Alex had always been a silent boy in class; it was mostly due to his introverted behavior or he was not able to find someone who had similar interests as him. He liked to read books, and due to some crazy experiences in life, he knew that it was better to be alone rather than forcing someone to stay, and loneliness didn’t bother him now.

He had a small friend circle at school, but it broke as he graduated the school, and now he used to think to reconnect with his friends, and out of nowhere he got a text from his long-lost friend Maya. She used to be his classmate, but her dad got transferred, and she left the school in 10th grade.

Alex and Maya used to be best friends, and they really enjoyed each other’s company, but after she moved out of the town, Alex got alone in class. As Alex was thinking of all this, Alex got a call; it was an unknown number. He picked up the call.

Stranger-hello

Alex - Hello, who’s there?

Stranger - don’t you remember me?

Alex - um, could you help me clear my memory?

Stranger - yo AK! Still don’t remember me.

(Alex was shocked as only Maya used to call him.)

Alex - wait! Maya, is this you?

Maya - of course dumbo! You forgot me.

Alex - Maya How could I forget about you, the class used to know as “two musketeers"?

Maya -Yes! And it’s been years since we met. Where are you now?

Alex - I’m in the town; where are you?

Maya - I’m also in the town; let's meet.

Alex - really! Let’s meet at Starbucks, okay?

Maya - You always know what’s going on in my mind. I was about to say that.

Alex - I know you love Starbucks.

Maya - let's meet at 4 PM.

Alex - okay, see you at 4 PM.

Maya - see you!!

And as they planned, Alex reached Starbucks, and as he saw, he was not able to believe that Maya looked so different; he still remembered her in her braids and recalled all his memories sitting with Maya on the last bench talking for hours.

As he approached her, she was really excited, and Maya was extremely happy to meet his long-lost friend, and then he sat in front of her. She told him about each and every thing that happened in those years, and soon the coffee arrived.

While taking a sip of his espresso, she asked him, “How’s your relationship going?” For what he replied, Maya, you know that I don’t have a girlfriend and I never had, and he asked, “How about you, Maya, how is your relationship going?” Maya replied, You know, Alex, I’m still single. I never had a relationship too! Alex was surprised, but quickly she added, Do you know I think we can be a good duo?

Alex said, but we already are the two musketeers. She said dumbo, you didn’t understand what I mean.

For which he said, I know what you meant, Maya.

Even though I wanted to tell you this since I met you, I felt a strong connection with you, and Maya replied, Even though I feel the same, so shall we both say it together? Alex was nervous, but on a count of three, they said, “I LOVE YOU.” For Alex, the time seemed to have stopped, and he was so sappy, and as he saw Maya, they both were smiling, watching each other, and it marked a happy ending in their story.
